The meeting has been called to order at 6:31pm. Two of the three district council members are present.

Norman White from Chicago Commission Human Relations (CCHR) is giving a presentation. White works with community tensions and hate crimes.

White mentions a hate crime pilot program. Crimes “that happen are not reported.” The purpose of the pilot program is to make it more accessible to report the crimes.

An audience member asks if there have been an increase in crimes among the Jewish and Chinese communities. White answers that there has been an increase in hate crimes among the Jewish community.

White also mentions that he does keep in touch with the Chicago Police Department (CPD).

White tells the story of two trans women who were murdered, with the parents rejecting the body of one of the victims after learning of their murder. Here is more information about the hate crime pilot program.

In the public comment portion brings up a police officer who has died by suicide and the importance of using one’s voice. There are no other comments. One of the agenda items, approval of minutes from the 4/28/25 meeting, have been approved. The meeting adjourned at 6:48pm.
