Here’s more information including agenda and join link- https://buildingdetroit.org/events/meetings/
Here in the zoom room. It’s the type where I can raise my hand, turn my camera on, but the chat and unmute is disabled. There are 18 people here at 10:04.
Agenda items include: public comment, 11 resolutions, and a close session. About 8 of the resolutions are to approve chief officer “TO ENTER INTO OPTION TO PURCHASE & DEVELOP AND AGREEMENT” with a particular org or business. About 2 res. include conveying land to Detroit City govt.
It’s 10:11 and still no voice, camera, chat or other indication of the meeting start. BTW, The DLBA “is a public authority dedicated to returning Detroit’s vacant, abandoned, and foreclosed property to productive use. Current programs include auction, side lot, community partnership and demolition.”
Meeting called to order at 12:15. The board is in a room together and there are 20 zoom participants, some of them DLBA members.
They approve the minutes and move on to public comment.
First speaker has some questions about purchasing some land near them, the lots are locked. They want some help with the larger issue of lots being locked sharing that neighbors want to purchase the land. Another members says that they are at a record low and are working to get the issue fixed.
Another board member (I’m unable to tell who’s speaking) shares that they are not releasing all the lots at once, this is referencing Fitzgerald. Speaker says they’ve already talked to Kim at the accessors office, who they’re being encouraged to talk to. Board member says side lots are priority.
Board member encourages speaker to talk to Alexa Bush and “talk to everybody” to get this issue resolved. Sounds like the board is indicating that this is an assessor issue. Board member says that everyone is aware of this issue “up to the mayor”.
Board member thanks the speaker and says they wish this problem would go away that they hear about it all the time.
Zoom public comment time - speaker shares they are interested in a side lot, they purchased a side lot and is inquiring about another side lot that has been unkept and unoccupied for 2 years. Says that it is not listed for sale. Board member asks for the address to look it up, they are doing so now.
Rob Linn from board, Directory of Inventory gives the speaker their phone number and says that they will sort it out this afternoon.
Public comment is finished. Moving to CEO report. CEO is reporting on budget, says they received a notice that the annual city subsidy has been reduced to 0. They are working on how to adjust programming with this shift. Unable to find CEO and Board names on the DLBA website…
They are doing a fair this Saturday 10-1 at Northwest Activity Center to support their purchasers with compliance. If purchasers complete a survey at the event, they can also get an extension on compliance requirements. https://www.facebook.com/buildingdetroit/photos/-attention-dlba-buyersjoin-us-for-the-2025-dlba-compliance-faira-free-event-desi/1006038814984538/
