@CHIdocumenters 3: Board president Kyle Cooper calls the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. All board members are present except one, who joins remotely. Also present is Inspector General Deborah Witzburg. Cooper announces that mayor Johnson has named Claudio Badillo vice president of the board

@CHIdocumenters 5: The number of police discharge cases filed with the police board has dropped significantly since Fraternal Order of Police members have been able to opt for arbitration in disciplinary cases which started in 2024.

@CHIdocumenters 6: From 2020-2024: - 23 officers discharged from CPD - 18 suspended without pay - 11 found not guilty of all charges But - 21 resigned from CPD before their case was heard

@CHIdocumenters The police board also hears appeals for rejections of CPD applicants. Most rejected applicants who appeal aren’t successful in getting hired. Here’s the data from 2024:

@CHIdocumenters 8: In the event CPD and the board disagree on discipline for a specific incident, a board member is randomly selected to make a decision. CPD recommended no discipline for the incident but Block was selected for this case and he decided to discharge both officers.
