Commissioners rapidly approved agreements that they noted were previously discussed in committee meetings, including an almost $2 million lawsuit settlement for Detroit Public Libraries. Commissioners also rescinded authorization for the Wayne County Youth Council, effective now.

Report from the Committee on Ways and Means wee approved
The report from the committee on Health and Human Services was approved with Commissioner Knezek abstaining
Report from the committee on government operations was approved.
They don’t have a budget to present, and the budget director says they should have it by the end of the month. The Chair notes that time is of the essence
They just appointed Wayne County Commissioner Palamara to the Wayne County Airport Board
Devoted to approve the appointment of commissioner Allen r. Wilson to the Wayne County Land Bank Corporation Board of Directors
The agenda for this meeting provided to the public is substantially different from the one the Commission is working from
The commission approved the creation of a Wayne County Commission youth Council, with commissioner Glenn S. Anderson and Alicia R. Bell, both abstaining and Tim Killeen voting no
The board approved a number of testimonial resolutions and memoriams resolutions, the exact number and identity of which are not in the agenda I have.
Moving on to public commenter, a Youth Council member thanked Commissioner McCormick for hiring them as an intern and for their leadership in regard to the Youth Council
That was it for public comment, now the Commissioners are making brief statements
Allen Wilson is thanking the board on being appointed to the Land Bank
A Commissioner noted that they have made progress on the backlog of rape kits in the county
Commissioner Joseph Palamara thanked the Commission for his appointment to the Airport Authority
How do you vote NO on a youth council???
But …WHY???
They certainly have enough money to do more rape kits (check the budget allocations)…

The Wayne County Commission and its employees are the legislative branch of county government. The chief role of the commission is to adopt a budget and enact ordinances. The commission also approves contracts, appointments and rules. The money is spent and ordinances are enforced through the administrative branch. The $1.5 billion budget runs the county operations that serve the more than 1.8 million people living in Wayne County.
